Friday afternoon we decided to invite a few friends over for some hot dogs and cake for Kyleigh's birthday. Initially, we were expecting about 5 little ones but in the course of 2 days over 20 people got invited. Improvisational Birthday Party! We didn't really have much of a game plan, but had ordered some balloons and let Kyleigh pick out her own cake. At the commissary she went bananas over a Little Mermaid cake and thankfully they had one kit left so we snagged her the last one (and it turned out beautifully). The night before Kris hung streamers and we put up a few decorations, rearranged some furniture and set up. I picked up the cake in the morning, grabbed the McGuire Boys (they helped me set up and took care of some of the snacks for us), and Kris was able to get off early and pick up the balloons for me (a huge blessing)! We end up with around 15 people (we lost a couple of little guest to nap time)and it was great. Kris did a wonderful job on grilling up the dogs, I made a very successful batch of Mamaw's Chili (that was to die for) and we snacked on veggies, chips, crackers, and animal cookies. Kyleigh had a great time with her friends and got some really neat birthday gifts. It was wonderful to have the time to spend with our friends and the party came together amazingly with not much stress. By the time everyone left we were exhausted and spent the afternoon lounging around. Happy 4th Birthday Kyleigh!
